Vehicle Type Detection
Configure which vehicles belong in each zone, and detection handles the rest — flagging violations day and night while authorized vehicles pass without interruption.
Not every vehicle belongs everywhere. Clear Watch Vehicle Type Detection knows a truck from a car from a motorbike — and raises an event only when the wrong type enters the wrong zone.
Vehicle Type Detection identifies vehicles in a monitored zone and classifies each one by type — car, truck, bus, bike, or motorbike. That classification becomes actionable: raise an event only when a truck enters an area reserved for passenger vehicles, when a motorbike slips into a car-only garage, or when an commercial vehicle appears on a residential street after hours. The type is the trigger, so alerts fire on the violation, not on ordinary traffic.
Target types are selected individually per zone, so each camera enforces its own rule, and detection is designed to remain stable across day and night conditions. The classification is also carried as event metadata, which means recorded footage becomes searchable by vehicle type afterwards — when an investigation starts with "it was a box truck," you filter straight to box trucks instead of scrubbing hours of video.
What It Does
Who Uses It
Gated Communities & Residential Properties
Enforce no-truck and no-commercial-vehicle rules automatically. A heavy vehicle on a restricted street raises an event; residents' cars pass without a ripple.
- Commercial and heavy vehicles flagged automatically — no attendant required
- Resident vehicles pass without interruption — alerts fire only on violations
- Every type-classified event logged as an evidence record for enforcement
Parking Operators & Garages
Structures have height limits and rules for a reason. Detect trucks or buses approaching a car-only garage before they meet the clearance bar, and keep motorbikes out of zones they shouldn't share.
- Oversized vehicles flagged on approach — before they reach the clearance bar
- Motorbikes detected in car-only zones and directed to designated areas
- Type rules configured per zone so each area enforces its own restrictions
Municipalities
Monitor truck-route compliance and bus-lane intrusions on the streets that generate complaints, with type-classified events as the evidence trail.
- Truck-route violations detected and logged automatically on restricted corridors
- Bus-lane intrusions captured with vehicle type, timestamp, and video clip
- Type-classified event record supports enforcement and responds to resident complaints
Logistics Yards & Industrial Sites
Keep passenger cars out of active truck lanes and staging areas where they don't belong — a wrong-type vehicle in a freight zone is a safety event before it's an operational one.
- Passenger vehicles in active freight lanes flagged immediately as safety events
- Staging areas and loading zones restricted to authorized vehicle types only
- Wrong-type alerts stream to operators or on-site staff for immediate response
Campuses & Healthcare Facilities
Restrict service roads, emergency lanes, and pedestrian cores to authorized vehicle types, and search recorded footage by type when following up on an incident.
- Emergency lanes and service roads restricted to authorized vehicle types automatically
- Unauthorized vehicles in pedestrian zones flagged for immediate operator response
- Recorded footage searchable by vehicle type — filter to the vehicle that matters
How It Works
When a restricted vehicle type enters a protected zone, the event streams instantly to Clear Watch's 24/7 monitoring operators, who assess the live video, issue a live audio voice-down over on-site speakers to turn the vehicle around, and escalate to your staff or dispatch when the situation warrants it. For operational zones, the same events can flow quietly to your team instead — and every classified event enriches your recorded footage for search.
FAQs
-
Yes. Target types are selected individually per zone, so one camera can flag trucks in a passenger area while another watches for any vehicle in a restricted lane.
-
Detection is designed to remain stable across day and night conditions, so type classification stays dependable through lighting changes rather than degrading after dark.
-
Yes. The classification is carried as event metadata, so recorded footage can be searched by vehicle type afterwards — filter to trucks, buses, or motorbikes instead of reviewing everything.
